Tis the night before Christmas and all through the town,
every shelter is full - we are lost, but not found,
Our numbers are hung on our kennels so bare,
we hope every minute that someone will care,
They'll come to adopt us and give us the call,
"Come here, Max and Sparkie - come fetch your new ball!!
But now we sit here and think of the days...
we were treated so fondly - we had cute, baby ways,
Once we were little, then we grew and we grew
now we're no longer young and we're no longer new.
So out the back door we were thrown like the trash,
they reacted so quickly - why were they so rash?
We "jump on the children:, "don't come when they call",
we "bark when they leave us", climb over the wall.
We should have been neutered, we should have been spayed,
now we suffer the consequence of the errors THEY made.
If only they'd trained us, if only we knew...
we'd have done what they asked us and worshiped them, too.
We were left in the backyard, or worse -let to roam-
now we're tired and lonely and out of a home.
They dropped us off here and they kissed us good-bye...
"Maybe someone else will give you a try."
So now here we are, all confused and alone...
in a shelter with others who long for a home.
The kind workers come through with a meal and a pat,
with so many to care for, they can't stay to chat,
They move to the next kennel, giving each of us cheer...
we know that they wonder how long we'll be here.
We lay down to sleep and sweet dreams fill our heads...
of a home filled with love and our own cozy beds.
Then we wake to see sad eyes, brimming with tears -
our friends filled with emptiness, worry, and fear.
If you can't adopt us and there's no room at the Inn -
could you help with the bills and fill our food bin?
We count on your kindness each day of the year -
can you give more than hope to everyone here?
Please make a donation to pay for the heat...
and help get us something special to eat.
The shelter that cares for us wants us to live,
and more of us will, if more people will give.

By MITCH STACY, Associated Press Writer (Nov. 30, 2007)

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Evel Knievel, the red-white-and-blue-spangled motorcycle daredevil whose jumps over crazy obstacles including Greyhound buses, live sharks and Idaho's Snake River Canyon made him an international icon in the 1970s, died Friday. He was 69.
Knievel's death was confirmed by his granddaughter, Krysten Knievel. He had been in failing health for years, suffering from diabetes and pulmonary fibrosis, an incurable condition that scarred his lungs.

Knievel had undergone a liver transplant in 1999 after nearly dying of hepatitis C, likely contracted through a blood transfusion after one of his bone-shattering spills.
Longtime friend and promoter Billy Rundel said Knievel had trouble breathing at his Clearwater condominium and died before an ambulance could get him to a hospital.
"It's been coming for years, but you just don't expect it. Superman just doesn't die, right?" Rundel said.

Immortalized in the Washington's Smithsonian Institution as "America's Legendary Daredevil," Knievel was best known for a failed 1974 attempt to jump Snake River Canyon on a rocket-powered cycle and a spectacular crash at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. He suffered nearly 40 broken bones before he retired in 1980.
Though Knievel dropped off the pop culture radar in the '80s, the image of the high-flying motorcyclist clad in patriotic, star-studded colors was never erased from public consciousness. He always had fans and enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in recent years.

His death came just two days after it was announced that he and rapper Kanye West had settled a federal lawsuit over the use of Knievel's trademarked image in a popular West music video.

Knievel made a good living selling his autographs and endorsing products. Thousands came to Butte, Mont., every year as his legend was celebrated during the "Evel Knievel Days" festival, which Rundel organizes.
"They started out watching me bust my ass, and I became part of their lives," Knievel said. "People wanted to associate with a winner, not a loser. They wanted to associate with someone who kept trying to be a winner."

For the tall, thin daredevil, the limelight was always comfortable, the gab glib. To Knievel, there always were mountains to climb, feats to conquer.
"No king or prince has lived a better life," he said in a May 2006 interview with The Associated Press. "You're looking at a guy who's really done it all. And there are things I wish I had done better, not only for me but for the ones I loved."
He had a knack for outrageous yarns: "Made $60 million, spent 61. ...Lost $250,000 at blackjack once. ... Had $3 million in the bank, though."

He began his daredevil career in 1965 when he formed a troupe called Evel Knievel's Motorcycle Daredevils, a touring show in which he performed stunts such as riding through fire walls, jumping over live rattlesnakes and mountain lions and being towed at 200 mph behind dragster race cars.

In 1966 he began touring alone, barnstorming the West and doing everything from driving the trucks, erecting the ramps and promoting the shows. In the beginning he charged $500 for a jump over two cars parked between ramps.
He steadily increased the length of the jumps until, on New Year's Day 1968, he was nearly killed when he jumped 151 feet across the fountains in front of Caesar's Palace. He cleared the fountains but the crash landing put him in the hospital in a coma for a month.

His son, Robbie, successfully completed the same jump in April 1989.
In the years after the Caesar's crash, the fee for Evel's performances increased to $1 million for his jump over 13 buses at Wembley Stadium in London — the crash landing broke his pelvis — to more than $6 million for the Sept. 8, 1974, attempt to clear the Snake River Canyon in Idaho in a rocket-powered "Skycycle." The money came from ticket sales, paid sponsors and ABC's "Wide World of Sports."
The parachute malfunctioned and deployed after takeoff. Strong winds blew the cycle into the canyon, landing him close to the swirling river below.

On Oct. 25, 1975, he jumped 14 Greyhound buses at Kings Island in Ohio.
Knievel decided to retire after a jump in the winter of 1976 in which he was again seriously injured. He suffered a concussion and broke both arms in an attempt to jump a tank full of live sharks in the Chicago Amphitheater. He continued to do smaller exhibitions around the country with his son, Robbie.

Many of his records have been broken by daredevil motorcyclist Bubba Blackwell.
Knievel also dabbled in movies and TV, starring as himself in "Viva Knievel" and with Lindsay Wagner in an episode of the 1980s TV series "Bionic Woman." George Hamilton and Sam Elliott each played Knievel in movies about his life.
Evel Knievel toys accounted for more than $300 million in sales for Ideal and other companies in the 1970s and '80s.

Born Robert Craig Knievel in the copper mining town of Butte on Oct. 17, 1938, Knievel was raised by his grandparents. He traced his career choice back to the time he saw Joey Chitwood's Auto Daredevil Show at age 8.
Outstanding in track and field, ski jumping and ice hockey at Butte High School, he went on to win the Northern Rocky Mountain Ski Association Class A Men's ski jumping championship in 1957 and played with the Charlotte Clippers of the Eastern Hockey League in 1959.

He also formed the Butte Bombers semiprofessional hockey team, acting as owner, manager, coach and player.
Knievel also worked in the Montana copper mines, served in the Army, ran his own hunting guide service, sold insurance and ran Honda motorcycle dealerships. As a motorcycle dealer, he drummed up business by offering $100 off the price of a motorcycle to customers who could beat him at arm wrestling.
At various times and in different interviews, Knievel claimed to have been a swindler, a card thief, a safe cracker, a holdup man.

Evel Knievel married hometown girlfriend, Linda Joan Bork, in 1959. They separated in the early 1990s. They had four children, Kelly, Robbie, Tracey and Alicia.
Robbie Knievel followed in his father's footsteps as a daredevil, jumping a moving locomotive in a 200-foot, ramp-to-ramp motorcycle stunt on live television in 2000. He also jumped a 200-foot-wide chasm of the Grand Canyon.

Knievel lived with his longtime partner, Krystal Kennedy-Knievel, splitting his time between their Clearwater condo and Butte. They married in 1999 and divorced a few years later but remained together. Knievel had 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Hey guys, just another news update...

After six long years of waiting, finally, Faye and I arrived here in Calgary last 24th of November, 2007, as a permanent resident.

We arrived at Vancouver at around 12:45 pm (where we were being interviewed again by an immigration officer) then off for Calgary at around 4:00 pm, arrived at 6:00 pm already, and 'twas our God father (ninong Oley), auntie (Tita Belen), and Paul (their youngest) who fetched us in the airport. They will be the ones who's going to accommodate us for the time being. Thank you very much for the flowers by the way!!!

Right now, our body is still adjusting to the cold weather here as we are now experiencing, for the past six days, an average outside temp. of minus 19 degrees celsius.....brrrrrr... COLD ISN'T IT??? Though the house here has a room temp. of no more than 19 degrees, still we can feel the coldness of the place. Good luck to the both of us! Hehehe.

So far so good and we are scheduled to go to Montreal, Quebec this coming 9th of December, until the 26th to pay a visit to Faye's sibs and especially to her mother. Afterwards, that will be the time for us to start working here for good...seriously.

Ok, that will be all for now. See you on board...until next time!

Hmmmmm...nice question Jeb! And thanks for asking because I am already waiting for someone to ask this q...

Why Kindred Clan???

Kindred is defined as..."A Group of people related by blood or marriage".

This is the main reason why I, instead of using any surname or "family name", which I know will be too specific in the near future (remember from our parents surname...etc. etc. who are interrelated to one another will be here) and since alot of our relatives is expected to join (who will also be using a different surname but is of course part of our family), a more common or rather general definition was being chosen to be the name of this board. And I've chosen the said name...KINDRED.

And to add more aesthetics...the word CLAN was being added. sunny

I hope I have satisfied your thoughts fair enough.

Nice one Jeb! bounce

Since they are almost all nocturnal (belonging to or active during the night), why don't you just lit your room all night long (which I believe you are already doing it...hehehe). Or hunt them down during day time...just like in any classic vampire movie huh? albino

Why not adding music on this site Question

This forum board is not capable of adding nor creating any music files (mp3, mp4, acc, etc.), but can only be an access thru a source link. For example, adding a link for sharing music (e.g. rapid share).

Hope I answered it right Jeb.

Nice suggestion though. rabbit

With all the hardships and pain
laughs, long talks
sometimes we drive each other insane
but when it comes to loving you
I do
no one could ever compare
because no one is as support, caring, and true
with all my heart
I love you more and more
from start to end to end from start
our loves grows
with every breath we take
you are my love my hear my soul
no matter what the price
or risks I must take
or even what I have to sacrifice
you are my best friend
my only one
I will be here with you until the end.

Ehem...ehem... Smile

Allow me first to thank my sister Angelica, for the support she gave me in order for me to use my natural abilities or qualities in creating a message board such as this one.

It has been a year now since I first imagine this concept of doing a forum specifically intended for our clan, whether here in the Philippines, or elsewhere abroad.

My main objective??? To create a reunion via a world wide web.

Unfortunately, during that time, life has dragged me to do office works, attending to a lot of meetings, social clubs, affiliations where I at that time was the secretary of three affiliations (can you imagine that?!), etc. And of course, spending my time taking care of my lovely wife especially when that tragic day happens (our first baby boy died, just two hours...neonatal death), I really considered myself as a busy traveller during those days. But that was all in the past now, I mean, I have regulated all my activites already...and I must move on and continue travelling from "west to east".

Just last week I had the opportunity of doing some scratch work in order for me to continue this said board and then suddenly...all came into reality.

In this board, all of us can now communicate on endless matters no matter where we are…

In this board, all "our" relatives are bound to be united…

And in this board, all of our lovedones can now CONTRIBUTE!

From this day onwards, all members of this board will be monitored and some will be given a title of being a "Moderator" and/or "ADMIN" (highest rank) if found worthy of becoming one.

One more thing, please do not forget to introduce yourself by posting your real "full" name, father and mother's full name, brother and sister's name as well inside this topic, so we may be able to know the real name of our relative/s (where he/she biologically come from) who uses a different forum name. Like me for instance, I am using my forum name MIKE. With this information, our forum board will now serve its purpose.

It is an option however if you want to use a screen name or not. But of course, a screen name adds aesthetics to the board itself. You can also put an AVATAR and signature, its cool. See its meaning on “guidelines for beginners”.

Thank you very much again and WELCOME ABOARD FAMILY!!! ENJOY POSTING!!!

GOD BLESS US ALL!!!

Sincerely yours,

Michael Melchor Macalincag Mauhay

I have posted an alphabetical list of technical terms in some specialized field of knowledge below to allow everyone to know what the members are talking about in this board.

- Administrator : This is the highest permission level for a member. He can manage the whole board by creating/organizing categories and sections, setting up permissions, changing the board's design, managing the users, etc.

- Announcement : Topic that always stays at the top of the topic list even if this topic is old. It appears at every page of a forum. They are generally used for board rules.

- Avatar : Personal image which is shown below the username in posts. The avatar is chosen by the user and it usually reflects a personality trait, a passion or a mood.

- Category : A group of forums (section)

- Flood : From the original definition of the word, this term is used to talk about the action of mass-posting only to raise the member's rank, to put a forum out of order or anything else. It may be a post which is extremely short. On EditBoard, this kind of post penalize forums in their position in the EditBoard directory.

- Fora : Latin plural for "Forum"

- Forum : Two definitions
1) Website or dynamic website part that allows written expression of its members. Also called "board", "message board" or "bulletin board"
2) A group that contains topics (or threads), also called "section"

- Founder : The administrator who created the board. He has rights the other admins don't, such as modifying his own profile, changing the board's address, deleting his board, having access the restoration utilities, etc.

- Guest : User who's not logged in to this board

- Hidden user : Registered user who chose to hide his online status. It can be done by ticking "Yes" to "Hide your online status" when you edit your profile. Administrators and moderators (if the admins allowed it in Admins Panel > Security) can see them, their names appear in italic.

- Moderator : A member who's in-charge to ensure a nice ambiance in a section or in a group of sections. For this, he/she has tools simple member don't have, such as moving, locking, unlocking, deleting, splitting, merging topics, editing or deleting posts, banning troublesome members (if the admin allowed it in Admin panel > Security).

- Post : Part of a topic that contains the messages of the member. It also contains the avatar and the informative links about the same member. It is synonymous to "message".

- Private message : As the name implies, it's a message you send to a single member, thus, the only one who can read it. This is useful for transmitting confidential information (ex: abuse report). Also called PM.

- SMS : Kind of writing which is often used in textual messages exchanged between mobile phones. This writing has the characteristic to be very abbreviated by using a single letter or number for a sound (ex : "U" for "you", "2" for "to", "sk8" for "skate"). this kind of writing MUST be avoided on this board because it's hard to read!

- Sticky : Topîc that always stays at the top of the topic list, under an announcement (if there is one), even if this topic is old. It appears only on the first page of a forum. They are generally used to display useful content that must stays visible for everyone.

- Topic : A series of posts. Also called "thread"

- Troll : Message or poster aimed to engage in controversy at an excessive level. It harms the forum ambiance because it annoys members, it's not “totally” appreciated.

- Usergroup : A group of users which has special permissions, such as having access to a private section, or moderating a section. Any user who's member of a group will have the access/moderation permission given to the group. This simplifies the permission management a lot.

In addition, please visit the FAQ section of our Forum by clicking the FAQ button on the upper left part of the site.
